The University of Nicosia (UNIC) is a private university and is one of the leading comprehensive research-oriented universities in the Mediterranean region, committed to teaching, research and innovation, sustainability, societal engagement and contribution to culture. It was founded in 1980 as Intercollege, and became a recognized university in 2007.

Presently, UNIC is the largest university in Cyprus and the largest in Southern Europe that teaches primarily in English, with more than 14,000 students from over 100 countries, a diverse community of approximately 1166 employees, faculty and staff, and an expanding worldwide network.
