Tao of Care (Amsterdam, The Netherlands)

At Tao of Care, our mission is to (re)humanize individuals living with dementia. We believe that when people with dementia are primarily seen and treated as patients limited by their condition, it diminishes their sense of humanity. To counter this, Tao of Care is dedicated to changing the perception and support provided to individuals with dementia through the implementation of the Social Approach to Dementia. This approach places emphasis on the lived experiences and everyday lives of individuals with dementia and their families.Our organization offers comprehensive training programs for teams working with individuals with dementia and their families. We also provide guidance to organizations seeking to effectively apply the Social Approach to Dementia. Despite being a small company with approximately 10-15 employees, our impact is significant, with approximately 400 to 500 individuals across the Netherlands actively working towards implementing the Social Approach in their daily practices.Since our establishment in 2012, Tao of Care has remained committed to delivering compassionate and personalized care to more than 3000 individuals. Through our dedication, we have fostered a positive change in the way people with dementia are viewed and supported, enhancing their quality of life and promoting their well-being.
